MEMBER SHOWCASE: STACY WALTERS
Meet Stacy Walters!
Stacy is not only an Entrepreneur Mentor. She also holds the occupation of Information Systems Chair at Kilian Community College/Empowerment Ventures! She became a member of The Bakery because as a professor, it is easy to become siloed into her discipline. She feels as though The Bakery offers a chance to meet experts in a wide variety of fields. She is excited to bring her students to The Bakery as well to give them a chance to not only meet other entrepreneurs, but also to get the feel for a coworking space.
When we asked Stacy how she would benefit from The Bakery her response was, “Whether it is in education or in business, it is important to evaluate a wide range of ideas, even if they are critical of your own. The cross-section of individuals who will make The Bakery their home will provide a great energy for brainstorming and vetting new ideas. They Bakery will also benefit the entrepreneurs in Empowerment Ventures as they graduate from the confines of a college system, and learn to navigate within an entrepreneurial community!”
Something that Stacy would like the rest of you to know about her is that she’s worked in higher education for 15 years and is always amazed at the incredible business ventures her students are developing. “I was raised by risk-taking entrepreneurs who knew how to listen to the daily markets, the talk at the corner cafe, and the random window-shopping customer in order to grow their own businesses.” she said. As an adult, Stacy got to test out those lessons during the first internet boom and bust out with her own technology businesses. For her, there’s no better education than living what you are learning! If you’d like to get to know our friend Stacy even more make sure to shoot her a message!
